  • Vinod Khosla said in an X post that he used ChatGPT to write a rap for his daughter's wedding.
  • And then used another AI tool to turn the lyrics into a song that he played at the event.
  • Some X users mocked Khosla's musical decision, but he was also praised by an OpenAI cofounder.

The experienced venture capitalist Vinod Khosla is praising AI tools for helping him write a rap for his daughter's wedding.

The billionaire and father-of-four detailed his use of the technology in an X post on Saturday.

"I wrote what I wanted to say to her as a speech, entered it into ChatGPT, said, 'Do rap lyrics for it,' it did, and then entered it into a music AI," Khosla said.

"So I was able to blare it over the speakers, a personal rap song from me," he added. "It extended my capability. It meant a lot to me."

Khosla's post has been seen over 1 million times, and that virality has attracted some mockery.

The @VCBrags account, known for mocking grandiose statements from VCs and executives, compared Khosla's post to a cringeworthy scene in "Succession" where Kendall Roy, the presumptive heir to the family business, dedicates a rap to his curmudgeonly father.

Khosla was also praised by some, like OpenAI cofounder Greg Brockman who said it showed the use of "ChatGPT for helping express what's in your heart."

Khosla's post appears to be lifted from an interview he gave with The Wall Street Journal, published the same day. In it, Khosla also spoke of his bullish sentiment for the AI industry.

"AI can do more for humanity in creating a utopian world and world of abundance," he told The Journal.

The interview also noted how Khosla was the first outside investor in OpenAI, and his initial $50 million stake could increase almost 90-fold as the ChatGPT creator explores a share sale.

Khosla Ventures did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment, sent outside US working hours.
